IBS Treatment - Vita Health Coach

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common digestive problem. It varies in symptoms from person to person therefore it is essential to consider an holistic approach when supporting an individual with this condition.

Thankfully, the research into gastrointestinal health has progressed over the last few years and there is a deeper understanding that lifestyle changes can be an effective way to manage IBS symptoms.

IBS consultation and sessions

The programme of sessions that I offer in 6 weeks to zen or 90 days to a super-charged you are tailored to the individual according to their presenting needs.

For IBS treatment, sessions would commonly consider the following;

  • Current diet and how it may trigger symptoms

  • Cultivating new behaviours around the healing potential of food

  • Develop an understanding of how the gut and brain work together

  • Identifying common lifestyle stressors at work and home

  • Recognise underlying worries or fears that contribute to IBS symptoms

  • Learning relaxation techniques and ways to manage stress

  • Incorporating movement techniques into daily life

  • Learn how to recognise and manage your own symptoms going forwards.

*The sessions were co-created by Dr Vincent Pedre and the Health Coach Institute and were provided alongside treatment recommendations from the client’s GP.

I was diagnosed with IBS by my GP, whose suggested treatment was medication, some dietary changes, exercise and relaxation. The medication improved my symptoms a little but I felt like I needed more guidance and support. A friend recommended speaking with Stacey. I’m so glad that I did. In our sessions, she supported me to make the dietary changes in the low FODMAP diet and after careful re-introduction of eliminated foods my stomach cramps and bloating have gone. I now know the foods that trigger my symptoms. Stacey helped me understand how exactly my gut functions and how it can be repaired. We also looked at the things that cause stress in my life and I learned simple and effective methods to manage and control my stress and I now sleep really well after years of interrupted sleep. I feel like I’m back in control of my life again and things are great.
